Name Tracing Worksheets for 1 Year Olds (Free, Printable)
One-year-olds aren't really writing yet — they're learning what a pencil feels like in their fist. That's exactly why a big, simple name-tracing sheet is the right starting point: a few thick outline letters, plenty of room, and a baseline to aim for.
This printable is set up the way speech and OT therapists usually recommend for the very youngest writers:
- All capital letters (easier shapes than mixed case)
- Extra-large outline letters so a chubby crayon grip still fits
- Just five rows — short enough that a one-year-old finishes one and feels done
- Baseline + midline guides that double as a visual target
We've seeded it with the name EMMA so you can see exactly how the printed page will look. Want a different name? Hit Customize yours below — type in your child's name and reprint as often as you like.
Print it, hand over a crayon (not a pencil yet — crayons are gentler on small hands and on paper), and let them scribble inside the letters. No pressure to stay in the lines. The goal at this age is just pencil-time on paper, with their name in front of them.
